Addressing Global Challenges: 100 Years and Beyond
International Week 2008
January 28 - February 1
International Week 2008 is quickly approaching, and here's your chance to get involved in global issues AND meet some really cool people!
What's International Week all about this year?
Well, as you may already know, 2008 marks the U of A's centenary year, and International Week is a signature event. This means International Week is bigger and better than ever with keynotes every night, a concert extravaganza, amazing lectures, and so on. This reflects our theme, "Addressing Global Challenges:100 Years and Beyond", through which we will focus on the University’s engagement and contribution to resolving global issues as well as the urgency and challenges we face as a global community. Exciting stuff, but we couldn't do it without volunteers!
So, what can you do?
- Showcase your public speaking skills as a presentation assistant,
- Display your flair for creativity doing publicity work,
- Take on a leadership role by helping coordinate specific projects,
- Share your organizational skills to help plan and prepare before International Week, or,
- Be a general event volunteer at any of the over 65 events during International Week 008!
It's easy! Download the attached volunteer form, and return your completed form via email to Roshini at rcnair@international.ualberta.ca, drop off at the International Centre or fax to 780.492.1134.
Still not sure?
We're having our first general volunteer meeting on Thursday, November 29 at the International Centre from 6 - 7:30pm. We'll address any questions, concerns, thoughts and ideas, and also give you a preview of International Week 2008 and more details on the kinds of positions available and how you can get involved.
Hope to see you there!
