Memorial

Saturday, January 19, 4 PM: Memorial service for the lives of people who died in 2007 because of housing problems in their lives, at Boyle Street Community Services (just west of 101 Street at 105 Avenue). There is a small service to give some dignity and significance to the lives of people who mostly have otherwise been unnoticed by the community, followed by a round dance, an affirmation of the value of all life. Most of us at EMCN are blessed to have reasonably good homes and this helps every aspect of our lives. Please consider using part of your day to join in a time of honouring those who have not had such lives.

Indicators of Well-being in Canada

Indicators of Well-being in Canada gathers data from different sources and presents a comprehensive, up-to-date picture of the well-being of Canadians and Canadian society. It also shows how this picture may be changing over time. Whether you are a student, a researcher, a community volunteer, a public servant, or someone who is simply interested in knowing about this country, there is information here for you.

You will find a wide range of indicators, or statistical measures, that show how things are going for Canadians. For example, there are data on how many hours we work each week, our education levels compared with the levels in other countries, the affordability of housing, and much more.

This website presents one approach to measuring individual and societal well-being. Over time and with the input of users and interested parties, we hope to further develop the range and depth of indicators on the website.
