EMCN is now the Edmonton and Northern Alberta partner administrating the Immigrant Access Fund, a micro-loan program designed to help immigrants increase their employment options through recognition of their qualifications. EMCN's IAF Coordinator is Sergio Manrique. More info on IAF can be found on the website www.iaf.org

EMCN Website Brainstorming Session
Please join us at 11:00 on Friday, August 31 (immediately before the general staff meeting) in the Boardroom at the 101 Street location for a website brainstorming session.
We will be gathering ideas to help us in the development of a new EMCN website. Come and share your suggestions, recommend other websites for us to look at, or let us know what you do or do not like about the current website.

Special thanks to Hazel Benson, Karen Gabert and Mohamed Maie for being "chaparones" for the journey of the pioneers who will be part of our new initiative with NAIT to have immigrants begin to study trades at the Fairview campus. They took good care of their 18 travellers and everyone seemed to have a great time. Thank you!
Help the Sudanese Community
Dear Friends,
The Sudanese community has lost one of its hardworking members, Chaplain Lojeng.
Chaplain was the chairman of Greater Equatoria community Association within the Sudanese community. He is going to be greatly missed by the community with his spirit and principles of consistency, honesty and hard work.
Late Chaplain's body is expected to be transported for burial to the Sudan. The cost of transporting is about 10,600. Right now we do not have enough cash at hand to carry out this task. I am kindly appealing to you for help with whatever, you can sincerely put forward towards the transportation of the body to the Sudan if possible.
Please you can forward your financial support to Joseph Luri at 916-3523 or you can come and join us in the church on Sunday August 12, 2007 for some special prayer from 5:00pm- 6:00pm. The intention is to try to raise this financial support required. The prayers will be at 11211- 109 Avenue at the Sudanese Christian Fellowship in Edmonton. Please you can call 916-3523.

The Canadian Labour Congress will be holding a municipal election workshop, for the upcoming elections. The workshop will cover the following:
