Unlocking Answers to Rental Questions
We know that organizations and front-line staff want answers to client's rental questions.
The Alberta Quality of Life Commission, Edmonton Social Planning Council and Service Alberta are hosting an information session on May 27th at King's University 9125 -50 St. Edmonton. "Unlocking the Answers to Rental Questions" will bring presenters from Service Alberta and Employment and Immigration to answer questions about the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and the Homeless and Eviction Fund (HEP).
Your organization and staff are invited to attend one of two free sessions - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Registration is limited to 100 at each session so please register early by responding to this e-mail. Include the names of those attending and the organization they are representing. Parking is free and there is access by public transportation (see the maps attached). An invitation is attached to this e-mail as well.
To ensure the session meets your needs, please send us the questions you want answered in the e-mail with your registration.

The Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre is pleased to host An Experiential Conflict Resolution workshop in Nonviolent Communication
April 17 & 18, 2009
with CNVC Trainers Jim and Jori Manske

- clearly choose strategies that are likely to support connection even when emotions are high or intense
- acknowledge and understand the deep cause of any dispute
- make requests that are likely to support disputants in hearing each other
- know when a shift to focus on agreement is likely to work
- respond to whatever is happening in the moment that could lead to understanding and resolution
- remain resourceful no matter what is said or done

Keeping Ahead of the Wave

Alberta Health Services, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, is proud to present the 2nd bi-annual The Greying Nation Conference. The theme of the 2009 conference is Keeping Ahead of the Wave. The conference will address how the healthcare sector and service providers can prepare for the influx of seniors requiring services – the baby boomers, the first of whom will be turning 65 in 2011.
Conference topics will include: innovative technologies to support functional and cognitive abilities; adaptive housing; "green" living through the ages; determinants of health; aging well; and perspectives on aging as expressed through the visual and performing arts.
Prizes will be awarded for the best poster in the following four categories:
- Innovation/Technology
- Aging Well
- “Green” Living Through the Ages
- Adaptive Housing
